Capcom's been gearing up for a big 2024 with a number of high-profile releases. Here's a sketch of some of the latest and upcoming games from the publisher:
1. Dragon's Dogma 2: It releases on March 22, 2024. Dive back into the fantasy world of *Dragon's Dogma 2, as an adventure awaits with tons of great action-RPG mechanics. It will feature high-definition visuals and a deeper play system through Capcom's RE Engine update.
Building on the popularity of the original's AI-controlled "pawn" companions, this game promises even more open-world exploration and combat freedom, making it one of the most looked-forward-to sequels for both old fans and new players. Capcom has teased that the game will be packed with an array of mythical creatures and a more refined party adventure experience—even for solo players.
2. Monster Hunter Wilds: This highly anticipated RPG is expected to launch in early 2025 with a promise to raise the bar for the Monster Hunter series afresh with new open-world features and gameplay elements. Hunters will be able to navigate through complex terrain, trace down various monsters, and even carry secondary weapons on new mounts called "Seikrets"—an innovation in the game series.
Dynamic weather will affect not only the environment but also the behavior of monsters, adding a smidge of new challenges on every hunt. The storyline of the game will revolve around a young character related to the mythical beast known as the "White Wraith" and will add some interesting stories to the traditional hunting focus.
3. Monster Hunter Outlanders: Unlike previous mobile adaptations, Monster Hunter Outlanders is crafted as a more "authentic" mobile experience in concert with Tencent's TiMi Studio. It drops players into an open-world setting to hunt solo or in teams of up to four.
Setting a focus on survival and crafting gear, Outlanders will serve the mobile gaming segment while not deviating from the core Monster Hunter game mechanics enjoyed by fans worldwide. While there is no announcement about its release date yet, beta testing and other community engagement activities drive its impending launch.
4. Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess: This action-strategy game with a twist, inspired by Japanese folklore, mixes real-time strategy and tower defense. Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is expected to be released on July 19, 2024, and it takes itself upon a task: to send players into a vicious circle of purifying villages during the day from demonic powers and defending them from attackers at night.
The combination of strategy and cultural inspirations adds something new and different to Capcom's portfolio. The titles that follow also further key iconic franchises, new gameplay innovations, and ensure 2024 will be a landmark year at Capcom for its fans.
